Lahore: Exquisite Matthew Breetzke scored an exhilarating 150 runs against New Zealand on newly renovated Gadaffi Stadium on Sunday February 10, 2025. This match set the record as the most allocated individual scoring by a debutant in ODI cricket history. Breetazke is now the only player to ever score 150 runs in an ODI debut match.

Breetzke, who first achieved fame in the SA20 league, is known for his splendid matches and also made his place in history books with a stunning debut century in ODIs. Breeetzke now shares records with Colin Ingram, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, who all scored prolifically, of 124 runs, 102 runs, and 113 runs against other nations in the World cups for South Africa. He is the only fourth South African to achieve such a feat.

Breetzke’s innings contain 11 fours, 5 sixes, 150 runs off just 148 balls at a strike rate of 101.35. His total score was a mazing mark for ODIs. His superb skills was combined with impressive temperament aginst both spinners and pacers. His score reachedition was 100 off 128 balls. After that it only took him 19 more balls for an additional 50 runs before Matt Henry dismissed him.

The right-hand batter bided his time after his captain, Temba Bavuma, was dismissed. He built significant 97 and 131-run stands with Jason Smith and Wiaan Mulder as his partners and helped his team reach a healthy score of 304 runs. What stood out the most in his innings was his scoring ability on the square – he scored over 38 percent of his runs (58) in that region.

Prior to this contest, the 26 year old Breetzke had only one hundred to his name in List A cricket. He has amassed 1,583 runs from 58 games with an average of 29.86, which includes 10 fifties and a single century.
