Vadodara: The Indian women's cricket team defeated West Indies by a huge margin of 115 runs in the second ODI match played here on Tuesday. With this victory, the team led by Harmanpreet Kaur has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana achieved a major feat in her name during this match.

Mandhana played a brilliant half-century innings of 53 runs against West Indies at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. This is her sixth consecutive 50 plus score in international cricket. She shared a century partnership of 110 runs for the first wicket with Pratika Rawal.

Mandhana has so far scored half-centuries in all five innings (3 T20Is, 2 ODIs) of this India tour of West Indies. She also scored a century in the third ODI against Australia at the WACA earlier this month.

Smriti Mandhana created history

Mandhana made many records on the basis of her half-century innings in Vadodara. She became the first player in the history to score 50 plus scores 7 times in a year thrice.

Mandhana has previously achieved the same feat in 2018 and 2022. Australian cricket legend Belinda Clark achieved this feat twice in 1997 and 2000.

28-year-old Mandhana has also become the first female cricketer in the history to score 50 plus scores 16 times in international cricket in a calendar year.

Mandhana has four centuries and three half-centuries in ODI cricket in 2024. She has scored eight half-centuries in T20Is. She also scored a century against South Africa in Chennai in the only Test match played by India this year.
