Sharmila Tagore called As Bad Girl: Sharmila Tagore has always broken stereotypes and has been a woman who does things her own way. In her time, the actress did everything that was like a dream for anyone in that era. Yes, in that era, she surprised everyone by wearing a bikini dress. Along with this, Sharmila also played all the bold characters on screen. In such a situation, some time ago, the actress told ETimes in a conversation how women were degraded in cinema during that time, thus, Sharmila was termed as a bad girl at that time.

There was no respect for women in cinema

Actually, Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore recently participated in the fourth edition of New Delhi Screen Live and during this time she talked a lot about her career, cinema conditions in films and her children. Sharmila while talking about this said that 'When I joined films, working in films was very disappointing for me. That is why the film industry also stepped back, they had their own small club, they also stayed away from the society, because there used to be judgement at that time. Male actors were accepted, but there was no respect for women.'

If you become a mother, you get respect

Along with this, Sharmila further said that ‘Even once I felt that I would be whistled at or I would get that kind of praise. There is a different kind of respect when you get married and when you become a mother. I remember I was going to Hyderabad and a car had to come to pick me up. In a few minutes a crowd gathered and people asked me if my son needed care and they took me to another room and brought a chair for me, it was a completely different kind of welcome.’

Once the mud was thrown

Along with this, the actress further said that society has changed a lot with time and said that once mud was thrown at her, the train in which she was traveling was also threatened to be set on fire but eventually things changed. I became a social suspect, the rest were from Maharashtra and they wore white clothes and they did not drink alcohol, I was different, so I was called a bad girl.
