Sensex Today: The Indian stock market showed a positive trend on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty registered good gains at the end of trading. BSE's Sensex closed at 81,224.75, up 218.14 points or 0.27 percent. At the same time, NSE's Nifty closed at 24,854.05, up 104.20 points or 0.42 percent. Nifty Midcap 100 index also rose by 183.20 points, reaching 58,649.15. Nifty Smallcap 100 index also saw a slight increase of 11.85 points, closing at 19,077.80.

 

Shopping in all sectors

Buying was seen in all sectors except IT and FMCG sectors in the market. Investors showed interest in auto, PSU banks, financial services, metal, realty, media,, and energy sectors.

Mixed market trend

A total of 1,942 stocks were in the green on BSE, while 1,993 stocks closed in the red. 108 stocks ended unchanged. Top losers on the Sensex included Infosys, Asian Paints, and Tech Mahindra. Top gainers included stocks like Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and NTPC.

 

The decline of Ola Electric

Shares of Ola Electric also saw a decline. The stock touched a low of 85.02 and a high of 88.00 and finally closed at Rs 86.95. The stock has fallen 45 percent from its highest level of 157.40.

Foreign and domestic investors

On October 17, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 7,421 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 4,979 crore.

start of earnings season

According to Krishna Appala, Senior Analyst, Capital Mind Research, “Data from companies like TCS and Bajaj Auto have marked a slow start to the earnings season. Bajaj Auto has indicated weak demand during the festive season.”

Thus, the Indian stock market gave a mixed performance, where some sectors improved while others witnessed pressure.
