Was Amitabh responsible for Rekha's condition?
We did not get the one for whom we were looking for. But with this excuse we saw the world. According to Umrao Jaan's director Muzaffar Ali, this song fits perfectly on Rekha. Wrong happened to her. Amitabh should have married her. Muzaffar Ali had directed this film. Rekha's acting was highly appreciated for this film. During the making of the film, Muzaffar Ali got a chance to know Rekha's life closely. He believed that Rekha is a very sensitive woman. According to him, Rekha had become a walking dead body. He blamed Amitabh Bachchan for this.

Rekha used to behave like a married woman
During the shooting of Umrao Jaan in Delhi, he used to come and sit on the sets of the film quite often. This is true. Whenever Rekha used to talk about Amitabh, she used to call him 'inko inko' (he is the one). Just like a married wife calls her husband. I think she considered herself married.

Rekha was in love with Amitabh
Unlike most of Amitabh and Rekha's costars and people in the film industry, Muzaffar speaks plainly. While Yash Chopra had hinted at the relationship in a roundabout way, Muzaffar Ali had told the writer Yasser Usman that Rekha loved him. She loves him. He should have given Rekha an identity and a name for the relationship.

Muzaffar Ali also told why he chose Rekha as the lead actress for his film Umrao Jaan. He said that Rekha's past makes her personality perfect for Umrao Jaan. There was a condition of rising after falling in Rekha's eyes.

There was an artist inside the line
Muzaffar Ali said that life shakes people to their core. A person falls again and again but unless he gets up with the same strength every time, he does not develop the style of living. If there is an artist inside him, then this storm polishes that artist. This feeling of strength to recover after being shattered was visible in Rekha's eyes.

I chose Rekha as soon as I saw her pictures
Muzaffar Ali had chosen Rekha for the role of Umrao Jaan, who was portrayed as a queen of excellent Urdu poetry and a wonderful way of speaking, just by looking at her photographs. There was no tradition of listening to the script for this film.

In 2006, another film based on the same story, Umrao Jaan, was made, directed by JP Dutta and Aishwarya Rai played the role of Umrao Jaan. However, this film was not as successful as 1981's Umrao Jaan.
