Mumbai: Today, just as there exist auspicious muhurats in Vedic astrology, there also exist inauspicious muhurats which do not advocate or encourage commencing anything new and there are certain times when one should refrain from taking on crucial decisions: Rahu Kaal: It’s a 90 minute period determined by the planet Rahu and it is considered to be an auspicious interval if one seeks new beginnings, however many further associate it with chaos and disorder. Gulika Kaal: This is a shorter interval that is relative to the shadowy planet “Gulika” which is famed for putting barriers in the path of endeavors. • Yamaganda Kaal: Connected to Yama the god of Judgement’s time meaning unproductive work and complication arise. Therefore as a means of preventing further misfortune, especially in the Vedic context, many avoid undertaking meaningful work during these segments.
