In an industry where glamour and luxury often define personal lives, star kids are usually seen enjoying the spotlight from an early age—luxurious holidays, designer clothes, international education, and celebrity-studded parties. However, Pranav Mohanlal, son of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, has chosen a path that breaks this trend completely.
Choosing Simplicity Over Stardom
Despite being the only son of one of India’s most popular actors, Pranav has opted for a quiet, minimalistic lifestyle. Currently residing in Spain, Pranav lives far removed from fame and luxury. He works on local farms, tends to animals like horses and goats, and participates in the 'work away' culture—a system where individuals exchange labor for food and accommodation, instead of monetary pay.
Mother's Perspective on Pranav’s Life Choices
In an interview with Manorama magazine, Suchitra Mohanlal, Pranav’s mother, revealed that while she regularly reads film scripts for him, Pranav prefers doing other things. She wishes he would act in at least two films a year, but respects his independent thinking.
"He’s not stubborn, but he has his own mind. I urge him to do more films, but he chooses what he feels is right," she said.
Suchitra added that Pranav cannot and should not be expected to become another Mohanlal, highlighting that he deserves to build his own identity on his terms.
Early Film Career and Acclaim
Despite his current detachment from the film world, Pranav has already made significant contributions to Malayalam cinema:
2003: Debuted as a child artist in Punarjani, winning the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist.
2015: Worked behind the scenes as an assistant director in Drishyam, Papanasam, and The Life of Josutty.
2018: Made his acting debut in Aadhi, which became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year. He also won the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actor.
2022: Starred in Hridayam, his most commercially successful film to date.
