Union Power Minister Manohar Lal called on the power industry to develop innovative solutions that will drive India's progress towards becoming a developed nation. Speaking at the Elecrama-2025 event in Greater Noida, organized by IEEMA, he highlighted India's ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 as a major opportunity for growth.

The minister stressed that the power sector is key to the nation's development and urged industry stakeholders to transform it into a true growth engine. "India's future in power is bright, but we must innovate to increase our generation capacity," he said.

To fully harness renewable energy, he noted that advancements are needed in power electronics, transformers, power converters, and smart grid technologies. The event, attended by both domestic and international delegates and investors, provided a platform to discuss how modernizing equipment—such as high-efficiency transmission systems and GIS substations—can further strengthen the grid and boost the economy.

In addition, Minister Lal emphasized the urgent need for a robust electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to help reduce emissions. He pointed out that e-transportation represents a significant opportunity and called for the development of battery swapping stations, fast chargers, and vehicle-to-grid systems. By investing in research and development, the industry can create innovative solutions that support both environmental and economic goals.

Assuring investors of the government's support and commitment, the minister encouraged the industry to take full advantage of available government schemes and initiatives. With a strong partnership between the industry and the government, he believes that achieving the 500 GW renewable energy target is well within reach.
