The Delhi Capitals made the announcement through a video posted on their official social media account X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Faf du Plessis confirmed his appointment, stating:
"I am fine and I am at home. It is true that I am the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals. The team has good players, and I am very happy."
His addition as vice-captain brings a wealth of experience to the squad.
Faf du Plessis' IPL Captaincy Experience
Faf du Plessis is no stranger to leadership roles in the IPL. He captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for three seasons, leading the team in 42 matches. Under his captaincy, RCB secured 21 wins and suffered 21 losses. Additionally, he has led the South African national team, further adding to his leadership credentials.
