The much-anticipated IPL 2025 season has officially begun, and three matches have been played so far. Out of the six teams that have taken the field, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have registered victories in their opening games. However, only SRH tops the IPL 2025 points table at the moment.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Lead Thanks to Massive Victory

Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Pat Cummins, currently hold the number one spot in the standings. Despite playing and winning just one match, the huge margin of victory has propelled their net run rate to +2.200, the highest among all teams.

RCB at Number Two in Points Table

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also won their opening match and, like SRH, have two points. Their net run rate of +2.137 puts them in second place, narrowly behind Hyderabad.

CSK Win but Rank Third Due to Net Run Rate

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), despite winning one match, are placed third on the table. Their net run rate stands at +0.493, significantly lower than SRH and RCB, which explains their current position even after securing a win.

Other Teams Yet to Play or Struggling

  • Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals are yet to play their opening matches.
  • Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have lost their first matches and currently occupy the bottom spots in the table.

With many games yet to be played, major shifts in the points table are expected in the coming days as all teams look to gain early momentum in IPL 2025.
