Jeddah. The first day of the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has concluded. On the first day, the names of 84 players came up in the auction in a total of 12 lots, out of which 72 players were taken by the teams in their respective camps, while 12 players remained unsold. The unsold players will wait to be sold on Monday. On the first day of the auction, all the franchises together spent Rs 467.95 crore on 72 players, including 24 foreign players. The teams have retained 4 players in their camp by using RTM.

Talking about the first day, it was in the name of star batsmen like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer, who surprised everyone by getting prices much higher than their base price. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) did wonders by bidding Rs 27 crore on Rishabh Pant. He has now become the most expensive player in this league.

Apart from this, Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL 2024 title, has now become the second most expensive player in this league. He was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 26 crore 75 lakh. Venkatesh Iyer
has emerged as the third most expensive player of this season, who has been retained by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 23 crore 75 lakh.

Apart from Iyer, Punjab retained its star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh (18 crores) through RTM, while it also strengthened its team by buying veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the same price. Out of the 72 players sold on the first day, there were a total of 20 players who were sold for Rs 10 crore or more.

If we talk about uncapped players, Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Rasikh Dar Salam (base price 30 lakhs) became the most expensive uncapped player, whom RCB bought by spending Rs 6 crore. Apart from this, Naman Dheer, who plays domestic cricket for Punjab, was retained by Mumbai for Rs 5.25 crore using RTM.
