Kanpur: Team India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja created history by taking his 300th wicket in the second Test match against Bangladesh. After two days of play being washed out due to rain, the fourth day began with new energy and India took full advantage of this opportunity. Jadeja dismissed Khalid Ahmed and wrapped up Bangladesh's first innings at 233 runs. During this inning, Jadeja completed 300 wickets in Test cricket and also achieved a special milestone.
During this time, Jadeja joined the list of select Indian players who scored 3000 runs along with 300 wickets. Before him, only Kapil Dev and R Ashwin had achieved this feat for India. Apart from this, in terms of balls, he is the second-fastest Indian (17428) to complete the figure of 300 Test wickets after R Ashwin (15636).
With this, he became the fastest Asian to achieve this double feat and the second-fastest player in the world after England great Ian Botham.
The day started off well for India. Jasprit Bumrah put pressure on Bangladesh by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim early. However, Bangladesh's Mominul Haque put the team in trouble by scoring a brilliant century. The visiting team tried to make a comeback in the match, but the Indian fielders boosted the team's morale.
Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch in the air to dismiss Liton Das. After this, Mohammad Siraj took another brilliant catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan.
Mominul's effort was not enough to keep his team dominating the match. Bumrah's precise deliveries dismissed Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam, while Siraj took the wicket of Hasan Mahmud. Jadeja then wrapped up the innings to end Bangladesh's first innings.
