
Melbourne: The fourth match of the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Today i.e. Saturday is the third day of the Boxing Day Test match. The third day of the match was completely in the name of India's young batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy (Nitish Kumar Reddy century) who scored the first century of his Test career.
21-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy played a brilliant century innings with the help of 10 fours and a six in 173 balls. This is his first century in Test cricket. On the basis of his century, India has scored more than 350 runs and has averted the threat of follow-on.
He has reached the third position in the list of youngest batsmen to score a century in Australia. After Nitish Kumar Reddy's century, his father, who was present in the stadium, looked emotional.
Earlier in the Border-Gavaskar series, Nitish Kumar Reddy had scored 40+ runs thrice, but in Melbourne, this young Indian batsman played a brilliant innings and scored a century. He shared a 127-run partnership with Washington Sundar, which helped Team India make a comeback in the Melbourne Test.
This is the second-highest partnership for the eighth wicket by India in Australia. Nitish Reddy is also the first batsman to score a century while batting at number eight in Australia.
