Lahore: Pakistan's experienced fast bowler Shaheen Afridi helped his team to a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series on the recent tour of South Africa. With seven wickets in the series, he has once again proved his dominance in the limited-overs format.

After the conclusion of the ODI series, Pakistan now has to play a two-match Test series against South Africa. Shaheen is not part of the Test team and now it has come to light that the Pakistan fast bowler has requested the management not to include him in the team for the upcoming two Test matches against South Africa.

According to a PTI report, Shaheen is preparing himself for the ICC Champions Trophy and has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board that he should not be considered for red-ball cricket until the completion of the Champions Trophy.

Despite their results in the two Tests, Pakistan is not competing for a place in the World Test Championship final. "The truth is that Shaheen himself had requested that his name not be considered for the Test matches until the Champions Trophy is over," a PCB source told PTI.

Pakistan's interim coach and senior selector Aaqib Javed has already said that the workload of this fast bowler is being monitored given next year's Champions Trophy.

The report also states that the fast bowler has also expressed his intentions to participate in the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League. He assured the board that he would keep a check on his workload during the tournament to manage his fitness.

The source further said, "He assured the management and the board that the money is very good and he will take care of his fitness and workload during the event, so he should be allowed to play in the league. Shaheen said that he will be fully fit in time for the triangular ODI series against New Zealand and South Africa, followed by the Champions Trophy at home."
