In a recent interaction with Mukesh Khanna, Govinda said that renowned Hollywood director James Cameron had offered him a part in his movie ‘Avatar’. Govinda clarified, “There is a sadhu who said, ‘Why do you look so gloomy? I have tons of money, so what should I do with it? When I explained a business idea to him, little did I know that he was speaking about 21 crore 50 lakh rupees as I left it back and felt sad.’ I encountered a Sardar ji in America who said he wanted to meet me. He did and even introduced me to James cameron and said to do a film with him. I had given that film the title of Avatar.”
What made Govinda say no to Avatar?
“What baffled me most was how he expected me to play the part of a handicapped hero. I am telling you I was not going to his film,” Govinda exclaimed. He continued, “So tell me what do you offer and he goes 18 crore. I said, ‘Sir, I don’t wish to take the money.’ You will need to shoot for four hundred and ten days and I said medically that sounds good but no. If I paint my body, I’m bound to end up in the hospital.”
