Why is the dead body not left alone?
- According to Garuda Purana, the dead body should not be left alone after death. Especially leaving the dead body alone at night can lead to trouble. Because evil spirits are active at night and can enter the body of the deceased. Due to this, the family members may have to face trouble.
- Garuda Purana states that the soul of the deceased remains near the body till the cremation and wants to enter the body again. This is because the soul remains attached to the body even after death. Therefore, the dead body is not left alone.
- Apart from this, according to the information given in Garuda Purana, if the dead body is left alone, there is a fear of ants or insects coming near it. Therefore, the dead body is never left alone and someone always sits near the dead body.
- It is said that Tantric rituals are mostly performed at night and if the dead body is left alone at night, the dead soul may get into trouble. Therefore, one should never leave the dead body alone even by mistake.
- According to Garuda Purana, many types of bacteria grow due to the smell emanating from the dead body. This is why someone always sits near the dead body and keeps incense sticks or dhoopbatti burning there.
