Ganesh Visarjan 2024: Ganeshotsav is celebrated with great pomp across the country and it started on 7th September on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesh Visarjan is done on the day of Anant Chaturdashi and those who install Bappa in their homes immerse him with rituals. Also, we wish that next year Ganpati Bappa comes to our house again and there is happiness and prosperity. This year Ganesh Visarjan will be done on 17th September 2024. But have you ever wondered why the first worshiped deity Lord Ganesha is immersed? So let us tell you that there is a very interesting mythological story hidden behind this.

That is why we immerse Ganesha.

It is said that on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Lord Ganapati is immersed in water because he is the lord of the water element. According to the Puranas, Ved Vyas ji used to narrate the story to Lord Ganesha and Ganesh ji used to write that story. While narrating the story, Ved Vyas ji closed his eyes. He kept narrating the story for 10 days and Bappa kept writing it. But when Ved Vyas ji opened his eyes after ten days, he saw that the temperature of Ganapati ji's body had increased a lot. Ved Vyas ji immersed him in water to cool his body, due to which his body cooled down. It is said that since that time, this belief has been going on that Ganesh Visarjan is done only to cool Ganesha.

How to immerse Ganpati Bappa

If you have also installed Ganpati Ji in your house, then immerse him in rituals. On the day of immersion, wake up in the morning, take a bath and worship Lord Ganesha, and offer him his favorite things. After this, read Ganesh Ji Aarti and Mantra. Then place Ganesh Ji's idol on a stool and make a sign of Swastika there. After this, immerse him. Keep in mind that immersion should not be done in one go, but slowly.
