The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given a big relief to its members. The last date for UAN (Universal Account Number) activation and linking Aadhaar to bank account has been extended again. Now 15 January 2025 is the new deadline

Earlier this deadline was fixed as 30 November 2024, which was later extended to 15 December 2024. But now EPFO ​​has extended it to 15 January 2025. EPFO ​​gave this information in the circular issued on 20 December.

Why is UAN and Aadhaar linking necessary?

Activating UAN and linking Aadhaar to bank account is mandatory for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under ELI scheme. This process is part of the scheme created by the government to provide financial assistance and promote employment generation.

ELI Scheme: Benefits will be available in three categories

The ELI scheme was introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the July 2024 budget. It aims to create new employment opportunities and provide financial assistance to employees. It consists of three sub-schemes:

How to link UAN and Aadhaar?

  • Visit the official website of EPFO.
  • Log in to the UAN portal.
  • Click on the option of Aadhaar linking.
  • Fill in Aadhaar number and other required information.
  • Complete the process by submitting.
