Patparganj seat in New Delhi, which has been a bastion Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) in the national capital, has now shifted to BJP with their candidate Ravi Negi winning the seat by over 21000 votes against online trainer turned AAP politician Avadh Ojha.
Count one on Saturday after round five out of a maximum of thirteen has Negi with 54077 while Anil Kumar from congress came a distant 3rd.
Negi, 45, is presently an MCD councilor from Vinod Nagar which is a part of Patparganj. He was recently in the news for asking a dairy shop owner to alter the name of his shop to make it appear as if a Muslim owned the place. He also had Indian flags forced on Hindu street vendors carts. He had also gone to butcher shops ahead of festivals to request them to close to honor Hindu people. These videos surfaced between October 2024 and January 2025.
The Bharatiya Janata Party Captures Sisodia's Stronghold.
Former AAP Leader Manish Sisodia captured this seat during 2013 assemblies in Delhi, but in the recent elections he opted for Jangpura. AAP replaced Sisodia with Ojha, while BJP replaced Mann with Countess Negi and unit congress filed kumar from the pivotal constiuency.
The Patparganj assembly segment is part of the East district of Delhi and is included in the East Delhi Parliamentary Constituency. Patparganj had electors and total votes cast wiith valid votes counted as 151717 during teh delhi assembly elections of 2020.
In 2020 Delhi elections, Sisodia overcame his biggest challenge and won becoming MLA, securing 70163 votes, surpassing his rival Negi from BJP who stood second with 66956 votes. In the 2015 elections, the total electorate increased to 214368 while the overall votes counted was 139737, and Sisodia won again getting 75243 votes, Kumar Binny from BJP was second with 46452 votes.
For the 2013 assembly elections, constituency had 189183 members, registered and 120431 of the casted votes was counted valid. Sisodia received a total of 50211 votes from the BJP, with nakul B hadwari emerging second with a total of 38735 votes.
