New Delhi. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), on the evening of October 31, all the teams have released the names of their retained players before the new season. Now the fate of the remaining players will be decided in the IPL mega auction. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has not retained its captain KL Rahul in the team. After this, the team owner Sanjeev Goenka told IPL broadcaster Jio Cinema about the strategy to retain its players. Whatever Goenka said in this, fans are considering it as an attack on KL Rahul.
Although Goenka did not name any player in his statement, but after Lucknow's defeat in a match last season, Goenka was seen angry at Rahul on the field itself. After this, Rahul has decided to leave the team. Now this statement of Goenka is being considered an attack on him.
Lucknow has retained a total of 5 players in its team including Nicholas Pooran (₹ 21 crores), Ravi Bishnoi (₹ 11 crores), Mayank Yadav (₹ 11 crores), Mohsin Khan (₹ 4 crores) and Ayush Badoni (₹ 4 crores).
After this retention, team owner Sanjiv Goenka told Jio Cinema, ‘This is a decision taken after a process in which Zaheer Khan, Justin Langer and analysts and CEO discussed together. And this conversation was not very long, I mean we had a very simple mindset that we have to go with those players who have a winning mentality. Those players who put the interest of the team before their personal goals and achievements. We wanted to retain as many of our core players as we could from our existing purse.’
After this, it is believed that his words were an attack on KL Rahul. These days Rahul is being criticized a lot for his strike rate. He is no longer a part of the Indian team in the T20 format and his strike rate in the IPL has gone up to between 130 and 140, while other strong players are playing at a strike rate of around 200.
