New Delhi: Team India is sweating it out in Perth before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy begins. The Indian team is dreaming of completing a hat-trick by defeating Australia at its home for the third consecutive time. But this time some things are not in India's favor. Neither do we have Cheteshwar Pujara nor Ajinkya Rahane, who were important players with the bat on the last two tours. Not only this, captain Rohit Sharma was also not there in the first Test, while Virat Kohli's silent bat was a big problem for the team.
Not only is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at stake for Team India, but there is also the threat of being eliminated from the World Test Championship. In a battle for pride and glory, the two world's biggest teams are all set to clash in Perth from November 22.
There is a saying, 'If the foundation is strong, the building will be tall'. The Perth Test will serve as the foundation for this much-awaited five-match series and whoever wins here may have an upper hand in the entire series to a large extent.
If we talk about the form of both the teams, then Team India seems to be on the back foot. Especially if we talk about the pace attack of both the teams, then Australia's bowling line-up is stronger. Fast bowlers prove to be the biggest weapon to win in Australia.
6 fast bowlers have been included in the Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour to Australia. But they look inferior in front of the 3 main fast bowlers of the opposing team (Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood).
The bowlers present in the Indian team are- Jaspreet Bumrah, Akash Deep, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana (debutant) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (debutant). Jaspreet Bumrah is the only one on whom the team can rely. Siraj's form is not good while the fast bowlers are inexperienced.
Talking about batting, India's condition is not very good there either. Rohit Sharma is out of the first Test and Shubman Gill may also be out due to injury during practice. Virat Kohli is not in form and KL Rahul is also struggling.
Now it remains to be seen which batsmen Team India gives a chance to in the top-5 and whether the Indian batsmen will be able to make a comeback from the flop show against New Zealand or their struggle will continue in Australia as well.
