Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar continues to be seen with the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad during their matches in the 2025 IPL season. However, despite his father’s presence in the camp, Arjun Tendulkar has yet to make an appearance in the playing eleven.

Mumbai Indians recently played their third match of the season, where Sachin was seen supporting the team from the sidelines. However, Arjun, a left-arm pacer in the squad, remained absent from the field once again.

Strong Debut by Ashwani Kumar Reduces Arjun’s Chances

In MI’s recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders, debutant fast bowler Ashwani Kumar made an immediate impact by taking a wicket on his first ball. He went on to claim four wickets in the match, becoming the first Indian bowler to achieve such a record on debut in the IPL.

With this performance, Ashwani is expected to retain his place in the team, making it increasingly difficult for Arjun Tendulkar to break into the side. Combined with the presence of seasoned pacers like Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar, Arjun’s prospects look uncertain.

Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL Journey So Far

Arjun Tendulkar was acquired by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 auction for ₹30 lakh. Although he went unsold initially, MI picked him later in the auction. A promising left-arm fast bowler with domestic experience, Arjun has played 5 IPL matches to date, taking 3 wickets and scoring 13 runs.

Despite being retained each season, he has struggled to secure a consistent role in the playing eleven. With Jasprit Bumrah expected to return soon, competition for pace spots will only intensify.

Selection Dilemma for Captain Hardik Pandya

MI captain Hardik Pandya faces a selection challenge with several bowling options available. Unless injuries or rotation policies come into play, it remains to be seen whether Arjun Tendulkar will get a chance in the remainder of the tournament.
