Updated on 23rd October 2023 - Chandigarh: Haryana Minister Anil Vij has stated that in his opinion, United States President Donald Trump did not err in his approach towards removing illegal immigrants. Furthermore, he stated that any country has the full authority to remove individuals that trespass in an unlawful manner.
While making a statement, Vij spoke against the recent action taken by the US against Indians. On the 7th of February, an American military jet arrived at Amritsar airport with 104 undocumented Indians from various states, the aircraft was the first of many to replace the Indian government. Trump's objective on immigration is quite stark in comparison to Obama's system, as he has a zero tolerance policy towards undocumented citizens.
“If a foreign citizen does not have the proper documentation, that country can do anything it wants to that person and it will not face any repercussions. I stand with the fact that Trump never made a mistake,” said Vij in response to former US ambassador and Punjab’s NRI Minister Dhaliwal’s appeal to Modi.
“Take an example from it, people from the other parts of the world reside in India without proper legal documentation and consideration, and India does yes feed them. Which is quite sad, as it is an unnecessary burden for this country,” he continues.
Amritsar airport received one hundred and four deportees on wednesday of which Haryana and Gujarat accounted for 33 each, while Punjab had 30, and 3 each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Chandigarh had two deportees. Punjab minister Dhaliwal on Wednesday urged that Prime Minister speak to his ‘friend’ US President Trump regarding the deportation of Indians.
