The classic movie from Bollywood ‘Kaho naa pyaar hai’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel recently celebrated its 25 year anniversary and was once again released to cinemas. The movie that took the audience by the storm turned Hrithik and Ameesha into superstars overnight. In an interview with the media, Ameesha shared some details about Hrithik sustaining a serious injury, during one of the action sequences of the movie.

When Hrithik Roshan was filming the climax for Kaho Naa Pyaar hai, he's recall nearly injuring himself while Amit Patel attempted a stunt. This was particularly devastating as Hrithik came to the set with a back injury. According to Ameesha, while filming a highly emotional scene, things certainly went a bit wrong. Roshan broke his back while jumping during the climax, which Bhansali refers to as a "jaw-dropping moment.". He jumped, and there was a cut. Sai and their hearts were worried. He explained that while wearing a jacket, she hurt herself, and we put her to sleep at and in the morning she lost consciousness. 

Not only was the injury troubling at the time, but it also caused scheduling issues.

Ameesha elucidated that the injury compelled Hrithik to be on a medical sabbatical for a few months. “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai got postponed for further six months since Hrithik was on bed rest and needed to go to Rehab,” she elucidated. Also alluded to were the expenditure and logistical considerations, such as the expense of recreating the same backdrop. “We came back, Rakesh uncle put on the same set. Obviously, this was extremely costly and made a loss as well,” she went on.

Written and directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan, the movie ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ shattered all charts for the new supply actor. A fascinating fact this time around was that Ameesha was roped in at the last minute after Kareena Kapoor, who Hrithik was cast alongside, was removed. Kareena had shot some segments but subsequently left for Refugee where she starred with Abhishek Bachchan.

Although there were many problems during the filming of the movie we can confidently say that ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ was a turning point in the lives of both Hrithik and Ameesha. The two of them again worked together in the 2002 movie ‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’ but the movie subsequently fared averagely well in the box office.
