Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, confirmed that the company will significantly increase its annual procurement of parts and services from India to $2 billion by the end of this decade. At present, Airbus sources around $1.4 billion annually from India. The move aligns with India’s rapid growth as a civil aviation market and Airbus's strategic interest in strengthening its supply chain in the region.
Over 1,300 Aircraft Ordered by Indian Airlines
Faury highlighted that Airbus has secured over 1,300 aircraft orders from Indian carriers. IndiGo leads with more than 900 orders, including 30 A350 wide-body jets. Air India has placed orders for 50 A350 aircraft. Currently, around 700 Airbus aircraft are operational in India.
Speaking at the Airbus Summit 2025 in Toulouse, Faury said, “We are expanding the supply base. From the current $1.2 to $1.3 billion, we aim to reach $2 billion in sourcing from India by 2030.”
Strong Industrial Presence and Partnerships in India
Airbus maintains a strong presence in India with over 3,600 employees and supports more than 15,000 jobs through its extended supply chain. The company is working closely with Indian firms such as Tata, Mahindra, and Dynamatic Technologies to strengthen local manufacturing and system development.
Faury emphasized India’s strategic value, stating that keeping up with the country's aviation growth requires a robust and adaptive industrial base. “We see a lot of potential for sophisticated system optimization and manufacturing in India,” he added.
