Earlier, Smriti Mandhana's (62) second consecutive half-century in the series and Richa Ghosh's (32) aggressive batting helped India post a competitive score amid the fall of wickets from one end. For West Indies, along with Matthews, Deandra Dottin, Chinelle Henry and Afy Fletcher also took two wickets each.
Amidst the continuous fall of wickets from one end, Mandhana took advantage of the three reprieves she got and hit nine fours and a six in her 41-ball innings. Debutant Raghavi Bisht failed to impress and became the victim of Afy Fletcher after scoring just five runs. Deepti Sharma (17) hit some good shots but was run out due to a misunderstanding with Richa.
Dottin, who conceded just 14 runs in her four overs, dismissed opener Uma Chhetri (four) early in the Indian innings. She also dismissed Richa Ghosh and made some brilliant saves amid poor fielding by the team. She took a brilliant catch of Radha Yadav (seven) after jumping near the boundary to stop a ball going for six.
Mandhana hit some brilliant fours in her innings. She hit three fours in the 13th over against Ashwini Munisar. Richa showed aggressive attitude as soon as she came to the crease and increased the run rate of the Indian innings.
