Brisbane. The Brisbane Test which is heading towards a draw has reached an exciting turn. In this rain affected Test, India's first innings ended at 260 runs on the 5th day of the match. Australia, which scored 445 runs, got a lead of 185 runs here. But in the second innings, the Indian bowlers have surprised the Kangaroos with their sharpness. The Kangaroo team has lost its top 5 wickets by adding just 33 runs. If India finishes off the Kangaroo team within 100 runs in the second innings and the weather supports it today, then it will try to turn the tables of this match into a win.
On the 5th day of the match on Wednesday, due to lightning and rain, only 24 balls could be bowled in the first session, due to which the match seems to be heading towards a draw. As soon as India's first innings ended at 260 runs at Gaba, a warning of bad weather was shown on the digital scoreboard. Akash Deep (31) was the last batsman to be dismissed, who fell prey to Travis Head. He added 47 runs for the last wicket with Jasprit Bumrah (10 not out). Both had saved India from follow on on the fourth day.
After the Indian innings ended, the players were asked to stay in the dressing room while fans were asked to take shelter from the rain away from the boundary line. No play took place after this due to heavy rain. The entire match was disrupted by bad weather and rain and play was stopped several times on four out of five days. Full play was possible only on the second day.
Whatever be the result of the match, India's batting and bowling have been a cause of concern and they will have to improve before the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Except KL Rahul, all the Indian batsmen have failed to face the Australian fast attack. Captain Rohit Sharma is in poor form and apart from the century in Perth, superstar Virat Kohli is not able to play the balls going outside the off stump.
Indian batsmen will have to avoid the temptation of playing like limited overs. In bowling, no one has been able to perform except Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammad Siraj bowled with an injury in Brisbane, due to which his playing in the Melbourne Test is also doubtful.
