Australia vs India 5th Test Day 3: Australia defeated India by 6 wickets on the third day of the fifth and final Test match played in Sydney. With this victory, the Kangaroo team has now won the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series 3-1. Australia has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years.
By winning the fifth Test, Australia has also qualified for the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 to be held in June. Australia will now face South Africa in the WTC Final. With this defeat, India is out of the race for the final of the World Test Championship.
In this fifth and final Test, India scored 185 runs in the first innings and then bowled out Australia for 181 runs in their first innings to take a lead of four runs. But Australia bowled out the Indian team for just 157 runs in the second innings and achieved the target of 162 runs by losing four wickets.
India missed the services of fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah in the second innings of this match, who did not come to bowl in the second innings due to injury. Beau Webster scored an unbeaten 39 and Travis Head scored an unbeaten 34 for the Kangaroos in their second innings. Apart from them, Sam Kontas scored 22, Usman Khawaja scored 41, Marnus Labuschagne scored 6 and Smith scored 4 runs.
