Novak Djokovic of Serbia has achieved another remarkable milestone by joining the roster of players who have competed in 430 singles Grand Slam tennis matches, giving him an edge over Roger Federer. The Canadian Open 2022 witnessed Djokovic winning his 21st Grand Slam point, and he has only gotten better. He outperformed himself by being the first player to win his most coveted tittle.
Djokovic is looking forward to making even more history at the Australian Open. Should the Serbian advance to the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open, he will become the second male tennis player after Roger Federer to have 100 wins at this tournament. Having won a total of ten titles, Djokovic also has the impressive record of not losing a single title match. However, there is promise for a potential quarterfinal finish with Carlos Alcaraz if he goes beyond the semifinal. In the third round, the Serbian will play against Tomas Machac, who currently holds the 25th position in the world ranking. Machac managed to defeat Djokokoc in the Australian Open warm-up match in Brisbane. So far, Djokovic has not looked to be in fine form at the Australia Open and has lost a set to both Nishesh Basavareddy and Faria so far in the competition.
“I love this sport, I love competition,” said Djokovic, who is in the third round in Melbourne for the 17th year consecutively.
“I try to give my best every single time. It's been over 20 years that I've been competing in Grand Slams at the highest level. I will always leave my heart out on the court no matter if I win or lose. I’m just blessed to be making another record,” he said.
Throughout his illustrious career, Djokovic has broken multiple records including winning the Grand Slam title, a feat that no other male player has ever accomplished, in addition to earning over 24 Grand Slam titles against Rafael Nadal’s 22 titles and Roger Federer’s 20 titles. Not only did he work tirelessly to cement his position as the best, but also exceeded the experience of being ranked 37 times as a No. 1 Player. Furthermore, he surpassed federers record of winning the tearsay 31 champions to winning 37 times.
