This year, everything began with the Motion Pictures Academy setting out to choose Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott as candidates for nomination announcement. On Thursday at January 23, the announcement will be given in a live ceremony that is hosted in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

But the news is that the live nominations ceremomy that was expected on January 17 was canceled more than once due to the unmanageable wildfires in LA. Due to the problems brought by the wildfires, the academy was obliged to move the ceremony date first to the January 19 and then January 23. To compensate for the time lost during these problems, the academy has further opened up the nomination voting period till January 17.

Yang and Sennott, prominent members of the laughing industry, will be opening the nominees for each of the 24 award categories of the Academy Awards and will be presented live on Oscar.com. The social media of the Academy, which includes Tik Tok, Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook will also streamed the ceremony alongside the ABC channel. This will further be featured on Good Morning America, and streamed on ABC news live, Disney+, and Hulu.
Nomination Ceremony Details
In alignment with supporting wildfire victims, the Academy is planning to forgo its annual luncheon event for Oscar nominees. The usual 250 thousand dollars will go towards the fires’ female casualties instead.
While everyone is annoyed about the delays in the nominations, it is refreshing hearing the Academy is moving forward with their broadcast plans. Conan O’Brien will host the award ceremony which is slated to commence at 2 nd March, and as per the latest, it has been confirmed that the show will still go on. Given the plans for the host, it is certain that the audience is in for a treat.
Sennott, who is recognized for her appearance in Bodies Bodies Bodies and Shiva Baby, as well as Yang, a cast member at Saturday Night Live, collectively add their special touch and humor to the process of unveiling the nominee list.
