Abhishek Sharma scripted history vs England
India managed to win the first match of the series by 7 wickets
India is playing against England at Kolkata
India's international cricket journey has been a bumpy road so far for Sharma, however, during the T20I match at Eden Gardens on January 22, things started looking brighter as the Indian selectors were starting to see the reason why Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav kept faith in him.
This was after a brilliant performance by the Indian economists, which allowed India to restrict England to a total of 132, largely down to Varun Chakravarthy's three wickets. Sharma made sure that India reached the target in just 12.5 overs at a run rate of 10.36.
Following Jofra Archer’s double-wicket over, which also included the dismissals of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, India, under considerable pressure, possessed Abhishek, who executed an onslaught of 79 out of 34 balls at a strike rate of 232.35. Abhishek made sure that with his innings, India maintained his attacking philosophy and also hit five fours and eight sixes.
Abhishek Sharma Rakes In The Records
While playing in Kolkata, Abhishek scored at least 70 which illustrated how he set a record for the fastest T20 sporting event in India. That record belonged to David Miller of South Africa, who made an unbeaten 106 runs while scoring at a strike rate of 225.53 in Guwahati in 2022.

After an outstanding Indian Premier League campaign on 2024, Abhishek made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe last year. He scored over 400 runs in the season while maintaining a strike rate of 200, which made him the first player to achieve that milestone.
The 24-year-old made his debut for the Men In Blue at Harare and became the youngest Indian to make a century for his team, with a quick T20I century. Unfortunately, he dipped below the mark with a half century against South Africa in his debut. Of the 13 T20Is he has played so far, he has made 335 runs at an average of 27.91 and a strike rate of 183.06, including one century and two half-centuries.
