In a joint press conference with Ajit Agarkar chief sector, ROhit Sharma announced the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. There have not been many big surprises in the squad as most of the faces were expected. Rohit will continue to lead the side with Shubman Gill as his vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been awarded for his performance in Tests and T20Is. He has been included in the ODI squad while Mohammed Shami makes his return in the ODI team after more than a year.

As Shubman Gill is vice-captain of the team, there is no doubt that he has a place in the playing eleven of the Indian roster during the Champions Trophy 2025. This goes to say that he will probably bat alongside Rohit Sharma opening with Jaiswal being the backup batter if need be. Virat Kohli will still take no.3 bid and number 4 will be surely Shreyas Iyer’s position.

KL Rahul’s case remains the same, as was in the recent ODI World Cup 2023 where he is the first-choice wicketkeeper, which means Rishabh will not be playing. Hardik Pandya will take up the position of number 6 and will, as well, be first pace bowling replacement for India’s team.
No Ravindra Jadeja, Bumrah-Shami Pace Duo Returns.
Particulars Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are likely to be the two spin bowling all rounder options for India at 7 and 8 positions. The pair will also add additional depth to the attack by combining arm spin and orthodox off spin. The spin will be started by Kuldeep Yadav as he nurses an injury to his groin.
When selecting reserves, Ajit Agarkar also noted that Bumrah's fitness remains to be an issue. But upon confirming the details, it is clear that the Indian team will count on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as the finest pace bowling duo. This is the same duo that caused serious problems in the ODI World Cup 2023 and almost reached the finals.
